So…. waiting at the VA Loop for Oakdale to depart, a black man comes to the front of the bus and says:
Passenger: “Hey, when dis bus levin?”
Driver: “right meow”
Passenger: “Hey why you got those two numbers 42 and 7 on that clicker?”
Driver: “Those are passenger counts the 7 is people that get on in the Oakdale area, keeping counts helps us get funding for new buses”
Passenger: “This IS a new bus.” (stated matter-of-factly) …. silence….
Driver: starts laughing…..
Passenger: …. confused…. gets on the Pentacrest bus.

Just a thought re: this and the other “ghetto” tags. I understand ghetto’s not always racialized as a term (that is, a white person can be “ghetto”), but there’s a long and demeaning history of casting black characters in dialect that posters might want to avoid. I know content is up to the posters, and that plenty of caucasians get their speech insulted on this site… but just a thought of an avenue to avoid, maybe.
